Lord of the Flies, Cry of the hunters, Finally Home

Perspective: Ralph

Journal Entry #11

I'm finally home. I'm back to my home. I'm back to my old life of good hygiene and manners. The best part is that I don't have to deal with Jack anymore. This has been such huge journey. It's hard to believe that we could crash on an island and survive. I should probably tell what happened before I came home. My tribe was gone. I was the only one left. Jack captured Sam and Eric and forced them to be in his tribe. I wanted to see what was going on so I went by Castle Rock and guess who was on guard, Sam and Eric. They said Jack forced them to do it, and they said Jack was coming after me. So I talked with them about why Jack is coming after me and they told me to run. Out of good intentions Sam gave me some meat from Jack's feast. I could see all of them with their DISTENDED bellies sitting around a fire. Just then I see Roger putting a stick sharpened on both sides in the ground. I didn't realize it at the time but I knew, that's where my head would go. So I did what anyone would do in this situation, I hid in a near by thicket! I slept there in attempt to DIDDLE them during tomorrows hunt. I was hiding in this giant thicket for protection, but I heard Jack interrogating Sam and Eric asking where I was. I knew this was trouble. Sam and Eric told Jack that I was in the thicket so they started dropping boulders on me. That didn't work so Jack tried smoking me out by lighting the thicket on fire. That got me running out of the thicket. As I did the ULULATION kept going around the island. I keep running and I hide a few more times only to jump out of the jungle to find a Naval Officer. Everyone was so shocked to see a Naval Officer. Percival Couldn't even remember his own name. He asked us who was the leader of the tribe and I told him I was. We told him the whole story. We told him how we got here, how we lived, who died, and why the island was a mess. He said he was disappointed in us because he thought we would act better than this. I don't care, I'm just glad to be home. Well I'm going to go to school now so I will need to end this until next time.

Chapter 12 Castle Rock,Lord of the Flies

Journal Entry #10

Questions:

1)Piggy tells Ralph to blow the conch as loud as he can and call an assembly
2)Piggy is going to tell Jack that Jack is stronger than him, and since Piggy is weaker the most honorable thing to do would be for him to give his glasses back.
3)Ralph says that their appearance is going to be peaceful, He wants to be unpainted.
4)Roger challenges the boys when they get to castle rock.
5)When Jack appears he had a dead pig, so he was hunting before he came back to Castle Rock.
6)Ralph provokes a fight by calling Jack a thief.
7)Sam and Eric were tied up and taken somewhere after the fight.
8)Roger was throwing stones and he also was releasing the boulder while Piggy was standing there talking.
9)I think that Roger and Jack are responsible for Piggy's murder. The reason being is that they were DELIERIOUS. I don't think anyone sane would kill a boy while he is pleading his case, and while he's holding the most important TALISMAN in the book. Roger is responsible because he was the one that threw stones at Piggy and then he dropped that boulder on him. Jack went after Ralph and he ordered the tribe to kill them. So Jack is responsible for 3rd degree murder and Roger is responsible for 1st degree murder. The way I know Jack is responsible for 1st degree murder is that, one he wanted them dead in the first place, and two after Piggy was killed he said something like, “See, see! That's what you'll get!” There were very few moments with CESSATION. So as you can tell,Roger and Jack TRUCULENTLY killed Piggy.

Chapter 10, The Shell and the Glasses

Perspective: Simon

Journal Entry #9

Uhh...where am I? How did I get in the sky? Oh my gosh! I'm floating in the air! This is unbelievable! Is that...the island? Why am I here? What sort of magic could have caused this? I need to go see what's going on around the island. It looks like Piggy is talking to Ralph about something. What's wrong with Ralph? He's like shaking and laughing. I need get closer. I wonder why they can't see me? I'm floating in the air why do I need to clarify this? Let's see Piggy is talking about the feast last night. He says someone died. Wait...I'm the one who died. How could this happen to me?! All I remember is a dead body...then the tribe came after me...then I blacked out. I must have died. Why am I still here then? I must be here because I need to find something. Wait, Piggy is saying that at the feast there was a huge fight and a storm then all of a sudden the beast popped out which must have been me. I guess Jack and his hunters thought that I was the beast and they went after me.
I should go check on Jack and see what's going on with him. I see Roger and some other kids are talking about Jack. Wow this guy has no mercy. Why would he tie Wilfred to a tree for hours and beat him? Was it punishment or anger? I think the second choice is probably it. If this guy killed me, than I think he would definitely beat Wilfred. They are also saying they think I am the beast and it wanted to kill them. This is making no sense! They're all going nuts! Beasts inside of people is completely ridiculous! Well, except for what the Lord of the Flies told me. When you hear a pigs head talking to you, I think you might be going a bit insane.
I see a meeting going on. This looks important. Oh no! Jack is planning to steal Ralph's fire! This can't happen! He needs that fire to get home! If only I could warn Ralph. Wait they are leaving now. They must be after the fire. I need to follow them. Jack what are you doing? This isn't right. He's stepping into the beach huts. I see him walking out with something. It's Piggy's glasses! Oh no, Ralph can't make a fire anymore! That was a dirty tactic! I need too go follow them, but I'm so tired I should rest and continue later.

The Gift for the Darkness

Journal Entry #8

I think the scene where the hunter cut off the pigs head is the most disturbing. The reason is that the paragraph is so descriptive and gory that it has to make you feel a bit uneasy. One part that makes me feel queasy is when they describe the pig getting torn to shreds. They say that they are wrestling it to the ground and as they do so they are poking it with spears and ripping the flesh. After that They say Jack gets his knife out and he cuts it's throat while letting the blood spill all over the place. They cut it's stomach open and they gut it, leaving a steaming pile of pig guts in Simon's chapel. They lastly cut off it's head and put it on a wooden stake in the middle of the field. The whole reason behind this vivid scenario is the hunters wanted to give the beast a gift. The hunters believed that they had to make a peace offering with the beast to get it on their side. So they went out into the forest and they killed a pig, cut it's head off, and put it on a steak in the middle of Simons field. After that the hunters left leaving this entire mess. I think this is enough proof to help you understand why this is so disturbing. If it isn't, go read the book and read it in a much more detailed perspective.
I believe that Jack and his hunters are responsible for Simon's death. In chapter eight, page one hundred fifty two and one hundred and fifty three, there is a quote that goes like this, “The beast was on it's knees in the center, it's arms folded over it's face. It was crying out against the abominable noise, something about a body on the hill. The beast struggled forward, broke the ring, and fell over the steep edge of the to the sand by the water. At once the crowd surged after it, poured down on the rock, leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words, and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws.” This proves that the hunters intentionally went after Simon whether they thought he was the beast or not. My next quote is also from page one hundred and fifty two, “The littluns screamed and blundered about, fleeing from the edge of the forest, and one of them broke the ring of biguns in his terror. “Him! Him!” So as you can see they didn't even have time to think this through, they just attacked. In total, Jack and his hunters killed Simon because they thought that he was the beast even though he wasn't. I relate this to the humans thought process. The part of our thought process I'm thinking about is our reaction to act before thinking. In this case that made a huge mistake. I hope I've made this more clear to you than it was before.

Lord of the Flies, Shadows and Tall Trees, The Game

Perspective:Simon

Journal Entry #7

This...this game, that they are playing frightens me. When I see them playing the game it makes my mouth as dry as BRINE. Ralph has made a hit on a wild boar with a spear. He looks so proud. I don't get why this is all happening. Jack is starting to make everything worse. He is acting too quick to think. He is starting to take charge of things that aren't his job. On the outside he seems like an angry kid, but on the inside he is a cold blooded killer. Also like I was saying he acts without thinking first. When the beast was spotted the first thing he wanted to do was kill it. While Ralph SAGELY planned it out carefully and made sure everyone was safe. We don't even know what this beast can do! Sam and Eric told us it has long claws and teeth and wings! He also said that the beast was chasing them and it almost go one of them. I don't believe any of this. Every one else is so IMPERVIOUS to common sense. I just think what they saw in real life is being covered up by their imaginations. This is so frustrating, I might have to go to my secret place soon. All those MOORS calm me. Well back to what I was saying before. Jack and his friends were reenacting Ralph hurting the boar. Robert was laying on his back squealing while the others poked him with the but end of the stick. Jack Suggested that we should dress up a littleun in a pig costume and make it a big show next time they kill a pig. But I think Jack has different plans for that unlucky littleun. I think he's going to kill him. The reason is that he always says that he hates the little kids because they don't help with any of the others jobs, they are loud at night, and they go to the bathroom wherever they please. So I guess Jack has his own personal reasons to do it. I just fear the day he's going to go after me next. Also they have this chant that goes along the lines of, “Kill the pig, cut her throat, bash her in! I'm the only one that is completely DUN when I hear that chant. Anyway as much as I'd like to sit here and be lazy, I need to do my job.

Why doesn't anyone listen to me! Beast from air.

Perspective:Piggy

Journal entry #6
I hate this island. It's cold, I'm hungry and tired, plus my Auntie isn't here. I also have to be stuck here with that nimrod Jack. I don't have any respect around here either. When I try to talk the only ones that listen are Ralph and Simon. They are the only two people left with some decency. Also they are the only two people that don't fully believe this story about a LEVIATHAN that wanders out of the ocean and eats people. Also this so called beast with wings and claws that fell from the sky is probably a pilot that got shot down from the sky. An...aviator of some kind. I think it's a pilot because we were all asleep and the only two people that saw it were the two littleuns Sam and Eric. They are too young to realize that what they see in their heads isn't what reality is. We also aren't thinking about the war. Every noise and explosion isn't a beast haunting the woods. The last thing I want is Jack calling the shots. He just wants to storm out there and throw spears and knives at the beast when we don't know what were up against. For all we know it could be a bullet impervious beast that could eat us in one bite. Ralph has some common sense. He planned it out that I should watch the littleuns and make sure they are okay. He also wanted to approach it carefully and track it first instead of FLAILING knives around and trying to kill it. In my opinion there isn't a beast and there never will be. Oh also another thing about Jack is he assaulted me. I was talking when I had the conch and WAXY he got up and punched me in the stomach and broke my specs! We
got so EMBROILED that even a huge drop of GUANO landing in between us wouldn't stop us. Ralph eventually broke the fight up and Simon got my specs. Now only one eye has a good lens and I need both lenses to see! I think Jack is going to go mad one day on this island. I just hope he doesn't go near me. I have to go count the littleuns now so I will continue this journal entry later.

This is a Lazy Island: Beast from Water

Perspective:Ralph
Journal Entry #5
This is a lazy island. Everyone here is lazy. I don't know how much longer I can take this! Piggy and Simon are doing okay, but Jack is too over confident to realize that hunting isn't the only thing we need to do! I called an assembly to discuss these matters. All these kids sat down on the platform as Jack TEMPESTUOUSLY jumped on and started a major argument. It ended up with our group splitting in two. I need to solve this somehow. Anyway the concerns that I brought up are that No ones doing their job. The Cocoanut fillers got lazy. The fire keepers got lazy and a ship passed by us! Also everyone stopped building the huts so Simon and I were stuck building the last one alone. At least Simon still has some DECORUM. Since Jack has been challenging me lately our island group has pretty much split into two groups. I'm not very happy about that. But I am happy that Jack isn't all up in my face right now. One other thing that's gone a little haywire is the littleuns. There LAMENTATION in there sleep is getting worse and worse. The reason they are crying is they say that there is a beast that comes out of the water. Everyone says that's what got the boy with the mulberry birthmark. I say it's LUDICROUS. All this DISCURSIVE about that water beast. Someone needs to teach those littluns, especially Percival, there are no such things as beasts. I say the dirtiest thing about human nature is our selfish violent, competitive, minds. If our minds all worked the same then there would be no issues in the world. But were all different, and that's what's been tearing our group apart. As the leader I have to make decisions. Even though I don't like making all these decisions I have too. I feel I have grown very strong since we first got to the island. I have become more mature and I'm not afraid of most things I used to be. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go do my job.
